ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY AGREEMENT

Oct 20, 2026

SynthFam DSP LLC (SynthFamDSP) values its users’ privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) will help you understand how we collect and use personal information from those who visit our website or make use of our online facilities and services, and what we will and will not do with the information we collect. Our Policy has been designed and created to assure those affiliated with SynthFam DSP LLC of our commitment and realization of our obligation not only to meet, but to exceed, most existing privacy standards.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Policy at any given time. If you have not registered with us and want to make sure that you are up to date with the latest changes, we advise you to frequently visit this page. If you are a registered user, we will notify you via email of any changes or updates made to this Policy. If at any point in time SynthFam DSP LLC decides to make use of any personally identifiable information on file, in a manner vastly different from that which was stated when this information was initially collected, the user or users shall be promptly notified by email. Users at that time shall have the option as to whether to permit the use of their information in this separate manner.

This Policy applies to SynthFam DSP LLC, and it governs any and all data collection and usage by us through our website (https://www.synthfamdsp.com/) and our mobile and desktop applications, currently including Samposium, PortaTempo and Sequentive, and any other application we release in the future (each, an “App”). Through the use of our website or any App, you are therefore consenting to the data collection procedures expressed in this Policy.

Please note that this Policy does not govern the collection and use of information by companies that SynthFam DSP LLC does not control, nor by individuals not employed or managed by us. If you visit a website that we mention or link to, be sure to review its privacy policy before providing the site with information. It is highly recommended and suggested that you review the privacy policies and conditions of any website you choose to use or frequent to better understand the way in which websites garner, make use of and share the information collected.

Specifically, this Policy will inform you of the following

  1. What personally identifiable information is collected from you through our website and Apps;
  2. Why we collect personally identifiable information and the legal basis for such collection;
  3. How we use the collected information and with whom it may be shared;
  4. What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data; and
  5. The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.

Information We Collect

It is always up to you whether to disclose personally identifiable information to us, although if you elect not to do so, we reserve the right not to register you as a user or provide you with any products or services.

Our Apps do not require an account, and we do not ask you to register in order to use them.

Our website automatically collects some non-personal technical information, such as the type of browser you are using, your operating system, and other anonymous usage data which assists us in providing and maintaining superior quality service. As described elsewhere in this policy, we have configured our analytics systems to discard IP addresses to protect your privacy.

Data Collected by Our Apps

Our Apps are designed to work without an account. The content you make in them, such as samples, recordings, sequences, presets, settings and project files, stays on your device. We do not receive it.

Anonymous usage analytics (Samposium, PortaTempo and Sequentive)

Samposium, PortaTempo and Sequentive use a third-party analytics service, PostHog, to help us understand how users engage with the App so we can improve it. We are committed to user privacy and have configured this service to collect only anonymous usage data, with no account, name or email address attached to it.

Specifically, these Apps collect:

  • Aggregated Usage Events: Such as which features are used, which buttons are tapped, which screens are visited, which settings are changed, and summary counts of that activity during a session.
  • Device and App Information: General, non-identifiable information such as the device type (e.g., ‘iPhone 14’), the operating system version and the App version.
  • Approximate Location: A rough location, such as country, region and city, worked out from your IP address when the data reaches our analytics provider. This is not your precise location, and the Apps do not ask for or use your device’s location services.

To protect your privacy, we have ensured that:

  • IP Addresses are Not Stored: Our analytics provider uses your IP address only to work out the approximate location described above, then discards it. We have configured the provider not to store your IP address with the data.
  • No Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is knowingly collected or transmitted through our analytics system, and we do not use it to identify you.
  • Your Content is Not Included: The names and contents of your samples, recordings, sequences and projects are not part of this data.

Anonymous analytics are turned on by default for users outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. For users in those regions they are turned off by default, and you may choose to turn them on. In every case you can change this setting at any time, as described under “Unsubscribe or Opt-Out” below.

The anonymous data collected is used solely for our internal purposes to improve our Apps’ functionality and user experience. For more information on our analytics provider, you can review PostHog’s Privacy Policy.

Email sign-up in our Apps (Samposium and PortaTempo)

If you choose to enter your email address in an App to receive news and updates, we receive that address together with the name and version of the App. We use it only to send you those updates, as described in this Policy, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Permissions our Apps may request

Depending on the App, your device may ask for your permission before an App can:

  • Use the microphone (Samposium): to record sounds that you choose to turn into playable samples. Recordings stay on your device.
  • Use Bluetooth (Samposium, PortaTempo and Sequentive): to connect to wireless MIDI controllers.
  • Use the local network (Samposium, PortaTempo and Sequentive): to discover and sync with other Ableton Link devices on your network. This happens between your own devices.
  • Open and save files: to read and write your own files, such as samples, sequences and projects, in the locations you choose.

None of the content handled through these permissions is sent to us.

If we release a new App, or change how an existing App handles data, we will update this Policy and, where required, tell you in the App or on its App Store page.
